The Landscape Architectural design process involved collaboration with the architect of this sprawling home. The focus was to incorporate the home and its exterior amenities with the topography and surroundings. The hardscape design included; several stone retaining walls perpendicular to the home, a square swimming pool and exposed aggregate paving throughout. Conforming to the architectural grid of the home, the precise hardscape required a suitable landscaping. Perpendicular to the home, evergreen “walls” or hedges fulfill the requirement of site integration. Low plant masses soften the stone walls without covering them completely. More naturalistic groupings of trees and shrubs provide privacy or integrate the home to the surrounding neighborhood.
